A wanted Watford man who stole £900 of pet products has claimed he is in Romania.
Stefan Matei, of Banbury Street, was due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on April 11 for sentencing over two counts of theft from supermarkets in Ipswich.
The 35-year-old took six packets of Frontline pet worming tablets and one packet of YuMOVE dog joint medication, worth a total of £143 from a Sainsbury's on December 22, 2023.
He also admitted nabbing £761 of pet care products and medication from the branch in Hadleigh Road in the town on January 25.

After pleading guilty to both counts on March 8, Matei was released on unconditional bail before sentencing.
The court files show he “did not attend court today advising he is in Romania but has provided no evidence or return date”. A warrant has been put out for his arrest.
