This popular music duo were at the height of their chart success when they paid a visit to a Watford wine bar in 1982 - and signed a leg in a plaster cast.
Chas & Dave had seen 'Ain’t No Pleasing You' peak at No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart in April of that year and two months later they visited Shakers in Market Street.
A Watford Observer photographer captured the late Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock in relaxed mood chatting to staff, posing for photos with a glass of wine in hand and signing the plaster cast on one man's left leg.

The pair, who were renowned for their rock and cockney style, performed many times in Watford during their 45-year career including at The Horns and the Colosseum.
Their hits also included 'Gertcha', 'Rabbit' and 'Snooker Loopy' and their popularity continues to this day following Chas’ death in September 2018 after suffering organ failure following successful treatment for oesophageal cancer.
