This shop is likely to have closed many years ago but lots of the brands displayed in its window remain very familiar to this day.
The Watford Observer has again teamed up with its friends at Watford Museum to look back at structures, objects or businesses from the town’s past that have either disappeared or been relocated and this week we look back at this former shop.
The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “I would imagine the building that housed Capell Cash Stores is no longer a shop.
“I'm not sure of the road that number 46 was in, although it might be Capel Road in Oxhey.
“Nowadays, it would be difficult to purchase the ironmongery items ranged around the shop window.
“However, many of the names in the shop window are very familiar - Quaker Oats, Rowntree's, Bournville, Tate & Lyle's Golden Syrup and Cadbury's but perhaps not Peek Frean's Pat-a-cake biscuits!”
