Residents reported seeing "lots of police and ambulances" at the Esso petrol station in the North Orbital Road (A405) in Watford on Saturday.
The Metropolitan Police has now confirmed they arrested a man at the garage after he was linked to an assault in Harrow at 2.30pm that day.
Officers attended the London address after reports of the incident and connected the suspect to a Watford address.

When challenged by officers, he injured himself with a sharp object leading police to taser and detain the man under the Mental Health Act.
Officers provided first aid until the ambulance service arrived, and he was taken to hospital where his injuries were confirmed as not life threatening.
He was arrested and subsequently detained under section two of the Mental Health Act, and is now in the care of medical professionals, according to police.
