- West Herts College, in Hempstead Road, was evacuated this afternoon (March 12).
- A police cordon was put in place "as a precaution" and officers were at the scene.
- Motorists were advised to find alternative travel routes due to congestion in the area.
- The college had received anonymous messages suggesting an explosive device had been placed somewhere on the site.
- A systematic search of the site did not find any such device and the reports are "being treated as a hoax".
- Students and staff have been allowed to return inside.
